The Pendleton Weekender

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the NYC trip I’m taking next week since I found out it was actually happening.  “Empire State of Mind” sums up the feeling I get when I visit the city every time. NYC offers an energy of motivation  and creativity that you just don’t get in many places.  I found myself searching for weekender bags when I came across a few offered by Pendleton that I really loved.

Spirit of the Peoples

Spirit of the Peoples Weekender

Pendleton incorporated the history of their company with the release of the “Spirit of the Peoples” design dedicated to the people of Pendleton, Oregon and the Native Americans of the Northwest who Pendleton acknowledges as their first customers.

The Rob Roy and the Black Watch weekender bags are also definite options. Going with either of these three bags puts you in a good spot with a good look when you’re traveling for a couple days.

Attention Ladies: Dress Like Your Better Half

There’s no better time than now for a woman to scrounge through her boyfriend’s closet looking for a nice layered fall look to walk the streets of downtown (enter your city here). Steal the blazer and the old broken in pair of jeans from the back of his closet, throw on some high heels or boots, and you’re good to go . I’m attracted to a woman who can confidently show a sense of masculinity in her dress ever so often because it focuses the attention on the face, hair, and lips. If you want your significant other to pay more attention to your words than your curves for a day, then try it out.

Agyness Deyn

Ms. Deyn puts this outfit together perfectly matching the black buttons on her double breasted boyfriend blazer with black leggings and black strapped boots. I’ve pictured below two of my favorite “bang for your buck” boyfriend blazers that you ladies can purchase right now.

Velvet Blazer (TopShop) & Butterscotch Schoolboy (J. Crew)

The velvet boyfriend blazer can be purchased HERE from TopShop for $170 and the schoolboy blazer from J. Crew can be purchased HERE for $128.  If any ladies were wondering how your boyfriend jeans fit should look I’ve thrown a pic below of Jessica Stam for H&M.

“Straight No Chaser”

Mr. Hudson30-something year old white guy from the UK spits out love songs like it’s a disease and hooks up with Mr. West for his first US release entitled Straight No Chaser. Mr. Hudson is definitely my favorite find from 2009.  You can tell his music has evolved genuinely from his first LP to the new one.  In the song “Knew We Were Trouble” he says, ” I’m just a boy from Birmingham, another imposter on a major label roster. How did I get here? No fear.” He knows who he is and he’s just living his dream. That’s what I like most about Mr. Hudson.  Plus he produced and featured on one of Jay’s best songs off of BP3, Forever Young. Did I forget to mention he has impeccable style? Check out his personal page HERE. Watch the video below of my favorite song off the new LP, Instant Messenger.

A.P.C. Cotton/Silk Scarf

APC ScarfCheck out this scarf from APC. A brand known mostly for its amazing denim branched out into the accessories department and pulled out a good one. I love the fringe detail but the 100% cotton sewn to the 100% navy silk just sets the whole tone for the scarf. Excellent quality, excellent aesthetic. If you can afford to spend $120 on a scarf I suggest you head to Tobi immediately to pick this up HERE.

Opening Ceremony F/W ’09

Preview from Opening Ceremony’s upcoming footwear release.  I’ve been a fan of the shop since I visited 2 years ago on a NYC trip. The shop contains the private label which has some awesome pieces along with notable collaborations coming from Pendleton and Jeremy Scott.  The blue and red suede cap toe  blucher is a must have if you can afford. Check out Opening Ceremony’s online men’s store HERE.
